Kwndo history

During the Warring States period in Japan in the late 16th century, warriors honed their skills on the battlefield.  At this time, this swordsmanship was known as kenjutsu which means “The Way of the Sword.”

Techniques were tested under a harsh and brutal system and those that passed were those that survived.

In the many school that taught the warriors of this age, wooden swords, or bokuto, were used to lessen the danger the students faced. Hence, Kendo was born!

Japanese historians mean that there were three periods in the ancient history of swordsmanship: Joko-ryu, Chuko-ryu and Shinto-ryu
